When food supply in the Serengeti dwindles, the Maasai Mara is a paradise of predators. The Mara River that meanders for nearly 400 km through the Savanna is the most hazardous river in the whole of Africa, hardly any other region in Africa is home to a greater multitude of animals than the Maasai Mara. This region, on the south west of Kenya is the land of the Maasai. The Maasai Mara National park lies on the southwest of Kenya and borders the Serengeti of Tanzania. When the dry periods begin in June, the black wildebeest, gazelles, zebras and antelopes make their yearly trip from south Serengeti through the aorta of the Maasai Mara, the Mara River.
