Carbon is the new currency of change. But until now, only a select few have been able to engage with it. Voluntary carbon markets are the future. But what exactly are carbon units and how did they save the planet? Well, that's a great question to understand carbon units and why they're so important. We need to talk about carbon emissions every time we burn fossil fuels like coal oil or natural gas, carbon dioxide CO2 is released into the atmosphere. This contributes to the greenhouse effect leading to climate change. And global warming carbon units offer a solution to this problem by creating a system to reduce and offset carbon emissions. Globally, carbon units represent a unit of measurement that quantifies the reduction or removal of greenhouse gasses from the atmosphere. Each unit is equivalent to one metric ton of carbon dioxide or its equivalent in other greenhouse gasses such as methane or nitrous oxide. That's the equivalent of 50,000 plastic bottles or a transatlantic flight from London to Chicago.
