At its tipping point, water shutoffs begin a cascade of disastrous effects, including leans, foreclosures, home abandonment, deterioration of health due to lack of sanitation, the tearing apart of families as Children are unable to stay in their homes without running water. The rising cost of water affects the weakest and poorest of those in our community. First, it disproportionately affects people of color and the elderly, and now it has infiltrated our middle class as many struggle to make ends meet.
