In the past 16 years, I have been a working artist: working in various aspects of the film industry, the artist community, and arts education. Working in the film industry, my focus has been in animating and creating puppets for stop motion animation. One of the first films I worked on, MORE, was a stop-motion short nominated for an academy award. My responsibilities for the short film were puppet fabrication, animating and set design. In my most recent stop motion experience, I was able to focus on my in puppet fabrication, becoming one of the lead armature fabricators for Neil Gaiman’s, Coraline. While working on film projects, I was able to utilize my knowledge to create and teach stop motion workshops for elementary and junior high after-school programs. This included facilitating, creating, and developing theatre productions, musicals and puppet shows.
