My voice can be deep and calm, reassuring, sardonic, film-noirish. And my voice can shift from ironic to zany and wildly goofy-- like if words were coming out of my chocolate Labradoodle in a woofy bark. I’ve been an advertising headhunter for 35 years, so I’ve developed a persuasive, encouraging, inspiring tone. I’m a lifelong New Yorker who can sound liked a Fortune 500 CEO, a Chelsea art gallerist, an anchorman, a learned Professor—without sounding pompous. I can also sound like a manic Jets fan from Lawn Guyland. I play guitar and sing country music so I can speak various Southern accents. I was the bedtime reader to our two daughters, so I’ve always been able to toggle between various characters. As I’ve been a short story writer, sportswriter and playwright, I’ve developed a natural affinity with pacing, drama and comedic timing. I can go high with exasperation and incredulity like Seinfeld. And low like I’m trying to seduce on a perfume spot—not as low as Barry White, but smooth, slow and tempting.
