Would you consider yourself to be someone who is strong-willed?
People who exhibit strong-willed behaviors are typically more creative, stand by their convictions and assume roles of leadership.
Strong-willed children grow up to be strong-willed adults and many of these folks tend to go down the entrepreneurial path and start their own businesses.
Does that sound like you?
Find out more about how having a strong will can help you to succeed in the realm of business and more in today’s VOX Daily.
Are You Strong-Willed?
I happened to hear an interview with author Cynthia Tobias on the radio. Tobias is the author of many books including “You Can’t Make Me, ‘But I Can Be Persuaded,'” a book that teaches parents how to communicate and interact with their strong-willed child(ren).
According To Tobias, A Strong-Willed Child:
- is not easily daunted or discouraged
- holds firm convictions
- doesn’t often accept defeat
- is fiercely loyal
- is determined to succeed
- is often extraordinarily devoted to accomplishing goals

Learned rib reserve breathing at age 12. If I wish to make a point..I can.
I had to be strong when back in Uruguay, my country of origin, I found out that indeed my career as a DJ, Main Voice and Producer of the radio station where I worked for 13 years, had reached its highest peak and the only chance that I had to jump to the next level was, for my surprise, assigned to another person.
A dear friend of mine who lived in Switzerland suggested me to browse some Voice Banks on the Internet, something that was emerging as a new kind of business in the industry, back in 2004. She believed, even not being a Voice Talent but an Engineer in Telecommunications, that that was the real future in my field. She wasn’t wrong.
I spent for about 2 or 3 months staying until 4 am trying to understand how could I become a Voice Talent for the global marketplace living in a country where there are too many other talents striving for a simple job in a country where we are a little bit more than 3 million people!
I visioned myself working already for the US, Canada, Europe… I was so, so focused in achieving that goal, that afterwards things started to move on quickly, yet smoothly.
I had to be strong and dedicate myself to my future achievements, not in the “do not’s”. I really wanted to give a new step in my career and helped by my deep convictions, my training, learning new things that could enhance my services, I could make it.
Now living in the US since 2006, I can tell that my instincts weren’t wrong… and that my friend was a visionary as well. That’s why everytime I have a chance, I tell her how grateful I am for what she helped me to conquer: an even more exciting career, in an amazing country full of opportunities, accumulating a more exciting experience and unimaginable clients that I would have never thought I’d be working for!
Anyone who keeps going after 150 rejections for that one YES is strong willed.
When I finished recording and editing a 4,500 word voiceover and the client asked me to “just redo it one more time” because they decided they wanted something completely different than what they originally asked and provided direction for. For free of course.
Luckily I was paid in advance but another to reason use Voices.com’s SurePay when that’s not the case.
