The Beginning: iPhone’s First Ad Campaign (2007)
The first iPhone ad campaign in 2007 revolutionized the way technology was marketed. With its sleek and simple design, the iPhone was a game-changer, and Apple made sure the world knew it. The initial ad campaign focused heavily on the device’s groundbreaking features, such as the touch screen and the ability to browse the web, making it a must-have for tech enthusiasts across the globe.
Who was the voice of the first iPhone commericial?
John Krasinski is the voice of the original iPhone commercial. Ads ran for months leading up to the release day on June 29, 2007. John Krasinski is most famous for his role in the show The Office. Given the popularity of the show at the time, it’s no surprise that Apple decided go with an actor from the show to perform the voice over. Apple has promoted “The Office” before during the unveiling of the new widescreen iPod.
Subsequently, “The Office” is the #1 downloaded show through Apple iTunes, so the timing of marrying voice from the comedy with an Apple product, specifically, TV ads for the iPhone, was a perfect choice. John Krasinski of The Office has been making a name for himself on and off camera.
Did you know he’s also the voice of Ask.com and the talent behind the voice of animated character Lancelot in Shrek the Third? That film is just teeming with great voice actors! Apple is always on the cutting edge when they hire voice actors. If you recall, they recruited Kiefer Sutherland to promote the new Intel chip in Macs in 2006.
This marketing approach set the stage for Apple’s future advertising endeavors, setting the tone for their uniquely innovative, artistic, and heartfelt commercials. Through these ads, Apple established a strong brand identity that would continue to resonate with consumers for years to come.
Capturing Moments: Heartfelt iPhone Ads
Heartfelt iPhone ads are designed to elicit emotions and showcase how Apple technology can enhance our lives by helping us create and preserve precious memories. One such advertisement is the “Relax, it’s iPhone 14 Plus” campaign, which emphasizes the device’s impressive battery life, lasting for an extended hour, and attention to details, allowing users to capture life’s special moments without the fear of running out of power.
Another heartwarming example is the “Misunderstood” ad, which won a Creative Arts Emmy in 2013. In this commercial, Apple artfully conveys the message that their products go beyond mere technology and play an essential role in creating and preserving memories, helping us save precious moments in our daily lives.
These emotive commercials not only highlight the unique features of the iPhone, but also forge a deep connection with the audience. By evoking powerful emotions, Apple ensures that their ads linger in the minds and hearts of viewers, making their brand all the more memorable.
Celebrating Creativity: Artistic iPhone Commercials
Apple’s artistic iPhone commercials inspire users to tap into their creative side, showcasing the device’s advanced features and their potential for artistic expression. Iconic ads like the “1984” commercial, the “Crazy Ones” ad, and the “Shot on an iPhone” campaign demonstrate Apple’s innovative and artistic approach to promoting their products, leading to increased engagement and site statistics.
One notable example is the Whodunnit ad, which not only showcases the cinematic capabilities of the new iPhone 13 but also pays homage to the hard-boiled crime drama film, Knives Out. This advertisement expertly combines the power of visuals and storytelling to create a captivating and thrilling advertisement that appeals to creatives and aspiring filmmakers alike.
By celebrating creativity, apple’s artistic commercials encourage users to explore the limitless possibilities offered by their devices and, in turn, foster a sense of loyalty and admiration for the brand.
Celebrity Collaborations: Star-Studded iPhone Ads
Celebrity endorsements in iPhone ads serve to emphasize the product’s popularity and showcase its unique features in an entertaining way. Apple’s long history of celebrity collaborations includes the iconic Mission Impossible ad featuring Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt, equipped with all the necessary Apple technology for his mission.
More recent Apple Music ads have featured notable personalities, such as dancers and vocalists, who captivate audiences with their performances while using the service. One particularly impactful ad starred Taylor Swift, whose 2016 Apple Music advertisement resulted in a staggering 431% increase in sales for Drake. These ads show personalized ads depending on the viewer’s interests and preferences, enhancing the overall user experience.
These star-studded commercials not only increase the appeal of the iPhone, but also demonstrate the wide-ranging appeal of Apple products, solidifying the brand’s reputation as a market leader and trendsetter.
Iconic Music: Soundtracks of iPhone Commercials
Music has the power to evoke emotions and create lasting impressions, which is why Apple uses iconic soundtracks in their iPhone commercials. These memorable auditory experiences enhance the overall impact of the ads and make them instantly recognizable, setting Apple’s commercials apart from the sea of advertisements we encounter daily.
By using iconic music, Apple ads forge a connection with their audience, creating a unique sensory experience that lingers in the mind long after the commercial has ended. This powerful auditory element contributes to the overall success of Apple’s advertising campaigns, leading to increased video recommendations and a customized YouTube experience, which in turn boosts audience engagement and site traffic. To further enhance their online presence, it’s essential for businesses to deliver and maintain Google visibility, ensuring they stay ahead of the competition. Incorporating personalized content and ads, along with YouTube homepage and tailored ads into their marketing strategy can also play a significant role in achieving this goal, especially when utilizing videos as a key component.
The choice of music in iPhone commercials not only amplifies the emotional impact of these ads, but also reinforces the brand’s identity as a creative and innovative force in the tech industry, much like a dynamic island in the sea of competition.
Showcasing Innovation: iPhone’s Technological Advancements
Apple’s commitment to innovation is evident in their iPhone ads, which consistently showcase the device’s technological advancements and demonstrate how the iPhone continues to evolve and improve. The 2009 iPhone campaign, for example, introduced the slogan “There’s an App for That,” resonating with users worldwide and highlighting the vast array of applications available at their fingertips.
The Romeo and Juliet iPhone 7 advertisement highlights the unparalleled camera quality of the device, showcasing the stunning visuals that can be produced with the iPhone 7. Similarly, the Whodunnit ad demonstrates the cinematic capabilities of the new iPhone 13, having been filmed entirely on the device and targeting creatives and aspiring filmmakers.
By showcasing technological advancements, Apple’s iPhone ads not only illustrate the brand’s dedication to innovation, but also serve as a testament to the device’s continuous evolution, making it a desirable product for consumers.
A New Era: iPhone and Privacy
With the growing importance of user privacy and security, iPhone ads now place a greater emphasis on Apple’s commitment to protecting its customers, including measures to protect against spam fraud and abuse. Apple has implemented a variety of measures to secure user data, such as encryption, two-factor authentication, and giving users control over their data, depending on your settings, helping them safeguard their personal information from potential threats. Additionally, Apple’s policies on how they use cookies and data contribute to this security. iPhone advertisements often include messages that stress the significance of user privacy and security, such as “Your data is safe with us” and “We take your privacy seriously”. These statements reflect Apple’s dedication to protecting its customers and serve as a sign of their commitment to upholding user privacy and security.
In an era where data breaches, cyber-attacks, crash detection concerns, and the need to track outages and protect user information are becoming increasingly common, Apple’s focus on privacy and security demonstrates the brand’s adaptability and responsiveness to the evolving needs of its customers, ensuring that they can trust in the company to protect their personal information, age appropriate if relevant.
The Evolution of iPhone Advertising
The evolution of iPhone advertising showcases the brand’s ability to adapt and innovate, consistently producing memorable and impactful ads that resonate with consumers. Have you seen the new iPhone TV commercials yet?
Comments
Right. So, just to clarify the inaccuracy of this entire article, John Krasinski is not the voice of Apple’s iPhone ads. That role belongs to Glenn Martin. Krasinski is only responsible for the AppleTV commercial.
Sorry, but while the AppleTV commercial sounds like it might very well be John Krasinski, the new iPhone ads definitely are NOT voiced by him.
Hi there,
Thank you for sharing your opinions on the matter. The original source we discovered this information from is OfficeTally.com.
Now, since there is a debate going on openly, I called Apple Corporate to see if they could confirm the voice for these particular commercials regarding the iPhone.
Unfortunately, Apple is keeping a tight lip on this one, so we’ll have to wait until a later date. Apple will not be officially announcing the voice or confirming any details at this point.
While Kiefer’s was quite obvious last year, this voice over, in the opinion of some, is a bit more ambiguous.
I did some further research for Glenn Martin and any association that this gentleman may have had and it doesn’t appear to lead to anything regarding a voice over.
Obviously there is a confidentiality agreement out there between Apple and the agency / artist they worked with.
If you’d like to keep guessing on the iPhone commercial voice actor, you are welcome to leave a comment here on VOX Daily with who you think the voice is.
Bear in mind that Apple would not confirm the information, so it may very well be John Krasinski after all.
Thanks for reading,
Stephanie

The IMDb doesn’t show any credits for the voice over and I think it’s safe to say that unless Apple, Glenn Martin, or people representing John Krasinski come out with the official answer, it’s still up for debate 🙂
If you have solid proof and can reveal the source to confirm, please leave a comment.
Thanks!
Stephanie
